Simon Barlow, managing director of Rye Group, was appointed as the vice chairman of the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG) on 12 February 2021.
Simon has recently completed his tenure as chairman of the London and Southern Counties region of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and was keen to continue working to promote standards within the industry.
On his appointment, Simon said:
“I’m delighted to have been appointed to this role, as I know the vital role training and development plays in ensuring safe and healthy practices in the industry but also how much difference a managed career development plan can make to individuals who are looking to progress.
“The range of training offered by the NDTG is fantastic and I encourage everyone in the industry to explore the right path for their teams.
“During my tenure as Vice Chairman I look forward to working with the group and industry to ensure the portfolio continues to evolve and reflect what is needed as the world evolves.”
Simon’s appointment to this role reaffirms his commitment to developing staff and wanting to ensure that standards of development are enhanced across the industry.
As vice chairman, he looks forward to supporting the organisation, and chairman Craig MacWilliam, in advancing the group’s cause and working with members of the industry to ensure robust training and development plans are in place and that there is a consistent culture of development.
Group manager of the NDTG, Lesley Ransome, said:
“The team at NDTG is delighted to welcome Simon Barlow as NDTG Vice Chairman. An advocate for developing and maintaining competence amongst the demolition workforce, Simon is an excellent role model with genuine passion and commitment for raising standards and ensuring safe practices on site.
“Alongside Craig MacWilliam in the role of NDTG Chairman, Simon will bring valuable perspectives regarding demolition industry training issues and inputs to the continuous development of the industry’s acclaimed CCDO Card scheme.”
