Bedfordshire Lieutenancy: Bedfordshire Service of Thanksgiving for His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh


A County Service of Thanksgiving was held on Friday 16 April at St Paul’s Church Bedford to give thanks for the life and contribution of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

The service was attended by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis, High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Eric Masih, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Chris Sharwood-Smith MBE, Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson MBE, Chief Fire Officer Paul Fuller CBE QFSM MStJ DL, Chief Executives of Bedford Borough, Luton and Central Bedfordshire Council, Town Mayors, MPs, Commanders from RAF Henlow and JFC Chicksands and some members of the public.

The Service was led by the Vicar of St Paul’s Church, The Rev Father Kevin Goss and the address and blessing was given by The Bishop of Bedford, The Rt Rev Richard Atkinson OBE. Representatives of the Judaism, Sikhism and Islam faith read an ascription whilst candles were being lit.
