The NHS is now inviting people aged 38 and 39 in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes to have their COVID-19 jab.

So far, the NHS in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes has dispensed over 680,000 vaccinations. Appointments are still available for those in the initial cohorts who have not yet been protected.

Invitations to people aged 38 – 39 have begun this week. So if you receive one, please do act on it as soon as possible.

Pregnant women will also be able to book through the national booking service from today (14 May 2021). They will be directed to vaccination centres offering Pfizer and Moderna in their local area in line with JCVI guidance.

They can also speak to their GP practice or maternity service if they have any questions about the coronavirus vaccine or can talk to a healthcare professional at their appointment.

The NHS currently vaccinates using three vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca. All have been approved as safe and effective by MHRA (the medical regulator).

People 39 and under without an underlying health condition will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance last week, which will be available at a large vaccination centre in the area.

Appointments at large vaccination centres must be booked through the online National Booking Service or by calling 119.

If you already have an appointment over the coming weeks for your second dose, this remains in place and it’s important that you attend it as planned.

Over 46 million first and second vaccinations have already been given, and the CCG is urging people to come back when they are contacted or if they have an appointment booked.

For more information on the coronavirus vaccine and to read the Frequently Asked Questions on the BLMK CCG website.
