On Thursday 3 December 2020, nine-year-old Teresa Byron presented Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service with a cheque for £150.

The cheque, which was given to Chief Fire Officer Paul Fuller CBE, was a donation to the Firefighters Charity. Teresa was inspired to make these Christmas sweet jars because her Mum, Daisy Byron, is a medically retired firefighter from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service had been supported by the Fire Fighters Charity.

In August 2019 Daisy joined Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Protection Team. Chief Fire Officer Paul Fuller said:

“I was delighted to meet Teresa and accept her generous donation on behalf of the Firefighters Charity, as Chair of the Board of Trustees.”

Teresa has also donated an additional £150 to the Florence Nightingale where her nanny works.

Daisy Byron, Teresa’s Mum said:

“It really has touched my heart that Teresa has done what she has done, and raised all this money, just from a few (50!) jars decorated for Christmas filled with sweets and decorations.”

Teresa is now planning her next charity project for next year.
